ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The University of Vaasa at University of Vaasa is a multidisciplinary, business-oriented university located in Vaasa, Finland, near the Gulf of Bothnia. It has developed from a school of economics founded in 1968 into a modern institution with four academic schools: the School of Accounting and Finance, the School of Management, the School of Marketing and Communication, and the School of Technology and Innovations. Today, it is one of the largest business universities in Finland, with around 600 staff members, including approximately 428 academic personnel, and about 6,000 students enrolled in various degree programmes. The university offers studies in business, technology, administrative sciences, communication, and related fields, with a strong emphasis on sustainable business, energy, and societal development. Its strategic focus areas include the energy transition, technological innovation, business management, and governance. The university’s campus is known for its scenic location and modern facilities, including renovated historic buildings such as a former cotton mill. Over time, the institution has evolved through several stages of development, gaining university status in 1991 and expanding its academic offerings to include technology and interdisciplinary studies. Today, it is recognised as a key centre for business and technology education in Finland.
