COURSE CURRICULUM

The Game Design and Development program is structured to provide a comprehensive education in both the creative and technical aspects of game creation, along with business and professional skills needed in the gaming industry. The specialisation module covers core technical areas such as object-oriented programming, game engines, game design, level design, mobile game development, VR/AR design, and both 3D game graphics and advanced 3D art. Students also develop artistic and creative skills through courses in visual composition, colour theory, sound processing, animation, and narrative design. Additional industry-focused subjects include user experience and interface design, game publishing, marketing, and emerging technologies in game development, ensuring students understand both production and market aspects of games. The research methodology module strengthens academic skills through research methods and academic writing. The basic studies module supports communication, teamwork, self-management, public speaking, organisational behaviour, and Estonian language learning, helping students develop soft skills and adaptability. The entrepreneurship module introduces business thinking, preparing students to understand game industry business models and potentially start their own ventures. Practical experience is a key component, with internships, teamwork projects, portfolio development, and a final paper that integrate learning into real-world application. Overall, the program prepares graduates for careers in game development, design, production, and entrepreneurship within the global gaming industry.
