COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Educational Studies program is structured to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills required to excel in the education sector. To complete the program, students must successfully finish 10 core subjects, including one final module option. The core subjects cover a wide range of essential areas in education. Students begin by exploring current research on learning sciences and curriculum design, gaining the ability to evaluate and develop effective instructional units and assessment strategies. The program also addresses technology-enhanced learning, equipping students with skills to design, develop, and evaluate teaching in diverse learning environments using various instructional approaches. A focus on digital learning allows students to create evidence-informed digital learning objects and environments, reflecting on best practices in educational technology. Another key area is the teaching of students with developmental disabilities and neurodivergent conditions, providing knowledge on inclusion strategies, educational policies, and evidence-based practices. Literacy development for second language learners is also emphasized, blending theory with practical application to meet the diverse needs of students. Students study a range of learning theories, from classical approaches like behaviorism and Piagetian models to contemporary perspectives, including sociocultural theories and emotional intelligence, enabling them to apply these insights across different educational contexts. Assessment practices are thoroughly covered, allowing students to develop expertise in designing fair, consistent, and effective evaluation methods and using assessment data to inform instruction. Finally, the program includes a practical teaching component where students complete a minimum five-week placement in a school setting, engaging in classroom activities and preparing a portfolio documenting their teaching experience, lesson plans, and reflections.
