Students study financial distress, corporate governance, managerial compensation, organisational architecture, risk management, debt and equity strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate finance in emerging markets. The program also addresses the growing demand for socially responsible investing, exploring ethics in finance, sustainable investing, environmental finance, green bonds, corporate governance, and the role of finance in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals.The program provides a comprehensive overview of the global and Australian financial systems, including money, capital, and derivative markets, banking, and the effects of monetary and fiscal policies. Students gain expertise in risk management, learning to implement Enterprise Risk Management strategies to manage market, credit, liquidity, operational, legal, and strategic risks. Modern portfolio theory and investment management are emphasised, enabling students to construct optimal portfolios, evaluate performance, and apply analytical tools to current financial markets.Additionally, the curriculum focuses on international banking and lending processes, covering the international monetary system, foreign exchange markets, cross-border trade, and consumer credit. Students develop a deep understanding of lending principles, regulatory requirements, security offerings, and emerging banking technologies. This holistic program equips graduates with the skills and knowledge to excel in diverse roles across banking, corporate finance, investment, and risk management sectors.
