COURSE CURRICULUM

The core subjects of the Bachelor of Computer Science program provide students with a strong foundation in programming, data management, networking, software development, and emerging technologies. Students begin by developing an understanding of fundamental programming principles with a focus on object-oriented approaches, enabling them to analyze problems and implement well-structured programs across diverse domains. They are introduced to systems analysis, learning techniques for eliciting system requirements and creating business, data, process, and object models using Computer Aided Software Engineering tools. Problem-solving strategies and algorithmic thinking are emphasized, allowing students to classify problems, analyze methods, and apply suitable approaches to solve real-world challenges efficiently.Structured programming skills are further developed alongside mastery of object-oriented concepts such as encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and messaging. Data management is a central component, covering relational and non-relational databases, SQL, data modeling, data processing, and security practices, while addressing ethical issues including confidentiality, integrity, and privacy. Networking fundamentals, including LANs, WANs, Internet protocols, OSI and TCP/IP models, and emerging technologies, prepare students to manage modern communication systems. Web technologies are also introduced, covering HTML, CSS, XML, client-server architecture, scripting, and web application development.Students gain advanced programming knowledge through C++ and Java, exploring procedural, object-oriented, and generic programming, resource management, standard libraries, debugging, and modern coding practices. Software development methodologies are also studied, including life cycle models, agile practices, Scrum, extreme programming, test-driven development, and software project management. Human-computer interaction principles, user interface design, usability testing, and accessibility are taught through practical projects. Additionally, Emirati studies courses offer insights into the social, cultural, environmental, and historical context of the UAE, providing students with a well-rounded education that combines technical expertise with local and global awareness. This curriculum equips graduates with the knowledge, skills, and practical experience to succeed in computing, software engineering, and technology-driven industries.
