COURSE CURRICULUM

The core subjects in the Bachelor of Computer Science program in Game and Mobile Development provide students with a strong foundation in programming, software development, data management, networking, and web technologies. The program begins with fundamental programming concepts, emphasizing object-oriented approaches to problem analysis and solution design. Students develop skills in designing and implementing well-structured programs, applying structured and object-oriented programming techniques, and practicing good coding style. They also learn to analyse problems, explore formal and informal problem-solving strategies, and implement solutions using algorithm design and abstract data types.Students are introduced to systems analysis and design, learning to develop business, data, process, and object models to capture system specifications. The curriculum covers data management, including relational and non-relational databases, data processing, security, SQL, NoSQL databases, concurrency control, distributed systems, and ethical considerations in data handling. Networking fundamentals, including LANs, WANs, Internet architectures, protocols, signals, modulation, switching, and routing, are also taught, along with the OSI and TCP/IP models.Web technologies are integrated into the program, covering client-server systems, HTML, CSS, XML, web forms, client-side scripting, and dynamic content development. Students gain practical experience building websites and applications while understanding current and emerging web standards. Human-computer interaction principles, user-centred design, prototyping, usability testing, and accessibility are emphasised through hands-on projects.Advanced programming topics in C++ and Java include procedural, object-oriented, and generic programming, resource management, debugging, exception handling, and the use of modern libraries and tools. The program also covers modern software development methodologies, including software life cycles, process models, UML, agile principles, Scrum, extreme programming, test-driven development, and software architecture. These core subjects collectively equip students with the technical expertise, problem-solving abilities, and practical skills required to develop enterprise-grade mobile applications, large-scale games, and interactive systems across various platforms.
