COURSE CURRICULUM

The core subjects in the Bachelor of Computer Science program are designed to provide students with a strong foundation in programming, software development, data management, and computer networks. Students begin by learning the fundamental principles of programming with a focus on object-oriented problem solving, enabling them to design and implement well-structured programs across various domains. They are introduced to techniques and technologies for specifying what a computer-based information system should accomplish, learning how to gather system requirements, develop business models, and use Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. Problem-solving strategies are emphasized, including both formal and informal approaches, along with methods to analyze and compare these strategies effectively. Advanced programming skills are developed through the study of structured and object-oriented programming concepts such as encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism, and messaging.Students gain expertise in data management, covering data modeling, processing, and security. This includes learning relational and non-relational database technologies, SQL, NoSQL, data confidentiality, integrity, and availability, along with ethical considerations in handling data. Networking fundamentals are also covered, including signals, modulation, routing, LANs, WANs, and the TCP/IP protocol suite. Web technologies form another key area, with instruction on client-server systems, HTML, CSS, XML, and scripting to build dynamic websites. Algorithm complexity and abstract data types are explored to equip students with problem-solving capabilities in real-world scenarios.Project and software development management skills are developed through subjects covering planning, risk management, cost-benefit analysis, and quality assurance. Human-Computer Interaction principles are taught to create usable and accessible interfaces. Advanced programming courses in C++ and Java focus on procedural, object-oriented, and generic programming, including memory management, debugging, exception handling, and modern language features. Finally, students learn contemporary software development methodologies, including agile practices, Scrum, Extreme Programming, and CMMI, preparing them for professional careers in computing with both technical expertise and practical project management skills.
