COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business Information Systems (BBIS) program is designed to equip students with a strong foundation in both business and technology, preparing them to manage, design, and implement information systems in diverse organizational contexts. The program emphasizes a balance between technical knowledge and business acumen. Core subjects begin with the fundamentals of programming, focusing on object-oriented approaches that enable students to design and implement well-structured software solutions. Students develop skills in problem-solving, algorithm design, and computational thinking, which form the basis for analyzing complex business processes. Complementing this, courses in systems analysis teach students how to gather requirements, model business processes, and use Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools to design effective information systems.The program also covers data management, data security, and database systems, ensuring students understand data integrity, confidentiality, and ethical responsibilities in managing organizational information. Networking and data communications courses introduce concepts such as LANs, WANs, TCP/IP, and emerging technologies, while web development subjects provide practical experience in creating dynamic websites using HTML, CSS, XML, and client-server architectures. Students also explore human-computer interaction, software development methodologies, project management, and IT-enabled business processes, ensuring a practical and comprehensive skill set.On the business side, students gain knowledge in management, finance, marketing, and enterprise information systems, including ERP, CRM, and SCM. Subjects in eBusiness and digital commerce provide insights into online business models, electronic payment systems, and regulatory frameworks. The program emphasizes the strategic and operational role of technology in business, preparing graduates to analyze, develop, and manage IT-enabled solutions that enhance efficiency, competitiveness, and innovation.The BBIS curriculum is further enriched by capstone projects, which allow students to integrate their learning in real-world contexts, and optional Emirati Studies courses, fostering cultural understanding and critical perspectives. Graduates are well-prepared for careers as Systems Analysts, Cybersecurity Specialists, App Developers, Video Game Developers, IT Project Managers, and other roles bridging technology and business in a rapidly evolving global environment.
