COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Business with a major in Accountancy provides students with a comprehensive foundation in accounting principles, financial management, economics, law, and business practices, preparing them for professional careers in global finance and accounting. In the first year, students are introduced to core foundational subjects, including accounting principles and systems, financial and non-financial reporting, and the analysis of business and social impacts on decision-making and corporate governance. Emphasis is placed on understanding double-entry systems, preparing financial statements, and applying quantitative techniques and computer-based models for business decisions. Foundational subjects also cover macroeconomics and microeconomics, corporate and personal finance, legal concepts, management principles, marketing, communication, and supply chain fundamentals, as well as ethical, sustainable, and socially responsible business practices. Students develop critical thinking, collaboration, and professional communication skills while gaining exposure to contemporary challenges such as globalization, technology, environmental concerns, and human rights. In the second year, subjects build on this foundation with advanced accounting and financial reporting, including preparation of reports under Australian standards, management accounting techniques for resource planning and control, and the use of accounting information systems in e-business environments. Finance modules introduce investment, financing, working capital decisions, valuation of assets, risk and return, cost of capital, and capital structure. Major subjects further develop expertise in advanced financial accounting, management accounting theory, auditing, assurance, and contemporary risk assessment, providing students with the technical, analytical, and ethical skills required to excel as accounting professionals. Capstone projects integrate knowledge across subjects, allowing students to apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios. The program is structured to reflect industry standards and practices, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to meet the demands of the global accounting profession and pursue careers in auditing, financial analysis, management accounting, and related fields.
