COURSE CURRICULUM

The Visual and Experience Design curriculum is structured to help students understand design not only as an artistic outcome but as an investigative and social practice positioned within technological, cultural and speculative contexts. During the early phase of the program, students are introduced to visual storytelling and graphic narratives, encouraging them to explore how meaning, identity and communication are shaped through images, symbols and constructed visual language. Alongside this, culture in technology offers critical insight into how digital systems, platforms and data circulation influence human behaviour, public dialogue, privacy structures and creative interpretation. Students learn to recognise design as an active participant in shaping cultural values rather than simply a tool for presentation. As they progress, design in crisis introduces them to the role of visual communication during global disruption, environmental change and social reorganisation, guiding them to consider how design can respond to urgent human challenges with responsibility rather than spectacle. Courses such as speculative futures expand thinking beyond current systems and encourage students to imagine future interfaces, ethical digital landscapes and experience formats that may redefine user engagement. Through cultural studies, learners examine the relationship between visual language, media power and social transformation, allowing them to ground their design practice in meaningful cultural understanding. The role of data and society further deepens this lens by exploring how digital information circulates and how designers must remain aware of consent, representation and algorithmic influence. Advanced research methodologies prepare students with the analytical and investigative skills necessary for thesis development, ensuring their final project is not only conceptually rich but methodologically sound. The capstone experience allows them to apply theory to real professional inquiry, often in collaboration with external partners, shaping practical solutions that align with visual communication, social impact and digital culture.
