COURSE CURRICULUM

The HND in Healthcare Practice (Healthcare Management) programme is structured across two years, with each year carrying a total of 120 credits and focusing on professional healthcare knowledge, leadership, and practical workplace skills. In the first year, students study core modules such as Developing Professional Practice, Teamwork and Communication, Evidence Based Practice, and Compassionate Care and Values-based Practice, which help build strong foundations in professional healthcare standards, ethical care, and effective communication. Specialist modules including Applying Governance Frameworks in Practice and Developing Leadership Skills further prepare students to understand healthcare systems, organisational responsibilities, and leadership within professional settings. Students may also explore Changing Perspectives in Public Health, gaining insight into modern public health challenges and community wellbeing. In the second year, the programme advances into higher-level healthcare management and professional development topics. Modules such as Establishing Professional Practice, Leadership, Mentoring and Coaching Others, and Innovation and Improvement through Participatory Action Research strengthen students’ abilities in leadership, research, and service improvement. Additional specialist subjects including Facilitating Practice Learning and Development and Facilitating Change for Quality Care focus on improving healthcare delivery and supporting professional growth in clinical and management environments. The optional Project Management module also develops organisational and planning skills, preparing students for leadership roles or further higher education in healthcare fields.
