COURSE CURRICULUM

The HND in Construction Management programme is structured over two years, with each year carrying a total of 120 credits and focusing on the development of technical, managerial, and professional construction skills. In Year 1, students study core modules such as Construction Technology, The Construction Environment, Legal and Statutory Responsibilities in Construction, Digital Applications for Construction Information, Tender and Procurement, and the Construction Design Project. These modules provide a strong foundation in construction processes, regulations, digital tools, and project planning. Students also choose optional subjects including Surveying, Measuring and Setting-out or Principles of Refurbishment, allowing them to explore specialised areas of the construction industry. In Year 2, the programme advances into more complex and management-focused topics such as Project Management, Advanced Construction Drawing and Detailing, Construction Technology for Complex Building Projects, and Personal Professional Development. Students also complete a Group Project designed to strengthen teamwork, leadership, and problem-solving abilities in realistic construction scenarios. Optional modules such as Contracts and Management, Sustainable Methods of Construction, and Value Engineering and Cost Control further develop industry-relevant expertise. The course combines technical learning with practical applications, preparing students for supervisory and management roles within the construction sector or progression to higher education in construction-related fields.
