COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering program is structured to provide students with a progressive and comprehensive understanding of engineering principles, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills and professional development. In the first year, students focus on foundational modules such as Engineering Tools and Principles 1 and 2, which introduce essential engineering concepts, problem-solving techniques, and technical skills. Mechanical Design and Manufacturing 1 and 2 build on these foundations, covering the principles of mechanical systems, machine components, and manufacturing processes, enabling students to develop core competencies in design, analysis, and production. The second year advances into more specialised and applied topics. Mechanical, Energy and Aeronautical Tools and Principles provide an integrated understanding of energy systems, mechanical dynamics, and aeronautical applications, while Dynamic, Instrumentation and Control explores system monitoring, feedback mechanisms, and control strategies. Mechanical Materials and Structures examines the properties, selection, and behaviour of engineering materials in mechanical systems, and Design and Project Management equips students with professional skills, including project planning, teamwork, and industry-standard methodologies for delivering engineering solutions. In the third year, students consolidate their expertise through advanced and applied study. Advanced Mechanical Materials and Professional Practice deepens understanding of material performance, engineering ethics, and industry expectations, while Mechanical Energy Analysis develops analytical and computational skills for evaluating energy systems and mechanical processes. The program culminates in Project-Based Modules, allowing students to undertake comprehensive design, research, and problem-solving projects that integrate knowledge from previous years and reflect real-world engineering challenges. Throughout the course, emphasis is placed on innovation, sustainability, and practical application, supported by laboratory work, workshops, and industry-informed teaching.
