The Electrical and Electronic Engineering program is structured to provide students with a progressive and comprehensive understanding of both fundamental and advanced engineering principles, combining theoretical knowledge with practical applications. In the first year, students build a solid foundation through modules such as General Engineering Tools and Principles 1 and 2, developing core technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and an understanding of engineering methodologies. In the second year, the curriculum advances into more specialised areas, including Electromagnetics and Communications, which explores wave propagation, signal transmission, and communication system fundamentals, and Dynamics, Instrumentation and Control, focusing on system monitoring, feedback mechanisms, and control strategies. Embedded Application Design and Interfacing, together with Design and Project Management, provide hands-on experience in integrating hardware and software solutions, managing technical projects, and understanding engineering workflows in real-world contexts. In the final year, students engage with Advanced Digital Design, exploring high-level digital systems and integrated circuits, while Electrical Transmission and Distribution modules introduce the principles of power networks, smart grid technologies, and efficient energy delivery, with a communications component for specialised students. The final year also offers flexible module choices, allowing learners to tailor their studies to their interests and career aspirations, exploring topics such as automation, renewable energy systems, or advanced electronics. Throughout the program, students develop practical laboratory skills, critical thinking, and project management competence, ensuring they can analyse, design, and implement complex electrical and electronic systems.
