COURSE CURRICULUM

The Foundation Program at Curtin University Dubai offers flexible study pathways designed to prepare students for undergraduate programs, particularly in technology and related disciplines. In the standard two-trimester pathway, Trimester 1 focuses on building essential academic and technical foundations. Students undertake Critical Thinking, Research, and Writing to develop analytical reasoning, academic literacy, and structured communication skills. Computer-related competence is strengthened through Computer Productivity, while Mathematics Foundations Intensive enhances quantitative skills necessary for further study in computing, engineering, or science-based degrees. In Trimester 2, students progress to Advanced Critical Thinking, Research, and Writing, refining their research abilities and academic expression to meet university-level expectations. They are introduced to discipline-specific knowledge through Introduction to Programming, which develops foundational coding and problem-solving skills, and Introduction to Project Management, which builds understanding of planning, organization, and teamwork within professional contexts. Mathematical Foundation III further advances students’ mathematical proficiency, supporting analytical and logical thinking required for technical fields. For those opting for the Single Trimester pathway, the curriculum is delivered in an intensive format that includes Advanced Critical Thinking, Research, and Writing, Introduction to Programming, and Mathematics Foundations Intensive. This streamlined option accelerates academic preparation while maintaining a strong focus on critical analysis, programming fundamentals, and mathematical competence. Across both pathways, the program emphasizes skill development, independent learning, and practical application, ensuring students gain the confidence and academic readiness needed for successful transition into undergraduate studies at Curtin University Dubai, particularly in computing, information technology, engineering, and other STEM-related programs.
