COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc Cybersecurity curriculum is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and practical skills in protecting digital systems and information in increasingly complex cyber environments. The compulsory modules provide a solid foundation, starting with Information Security Management, which covers principles, policies, and strategies for safeguarding digital assets, and Critical Analysis, which develops the ability to evaluate cybersecurity challenges and solutions. Digital Forensic Investigation teaches techniques for examining and analysing digital evidence, while Cyber Defence focuses on designing and implementing measures to protect networks and systems from attacks. Ethical Hacking provides hands-on experience in identifying vulnerabilities and understanding attacker techniques, preparing students to anticipate and mitigate threats. The Master’s Project allows students to integrate theory and practice by planning, executing, and critically evaluating a substantial research or technical project, reinforcing both analytical and practical expertise. Optional modules offer opportunities for further specialisation, including Practical Cryptography, which explores secure communication techniques, Cyber Warfare, which examines offensive and defensive strategies in digital conflicts, and Cyber Incident Handling, which focuses on responding to and managing security breaches. Overall, the program combines theoretical understanding, applied technical skills, and research competence, preparing graduates for professional roles in cybersecurity, network defence, digital forensics, and information assurance across public and private sectors.
