COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Laws LLM curriculum combines a strong academic foundation with extensive specialist options, allowing students to tailor their studies to diverse legal interests. The compulsory modules include Advanced Legal Systems, which develops comparative and analytical understanding of complex legal frameworks, and a Dissertation, enabling students to undertake independent research on a contemporary legal issue. A wide range of optional modules supports specialisation across multiple fields of law. In energy law, students may study Oil and Gas: Public Law and Oil and Gas: Private Law. International commercial subjects include International Commercial Arbitration, International Commercial Mediation, International Commercial Litigation, International Sale of Goods, Shipping and Maritime Commercial Law, International Corporate Governance, Banking and Financial Services Regulation, and Law of International Financial Transactions. European and international law options include EU Constitutional Law and Governance, EU Single Market Law, EU Economic and Financial Governance, WTO Law and Policy, and International Intellectual Property Law. Security and human rights focused modules include Peacebuilding and the Law, International Human Rights Law, International Criminal Law and Security, Law Relating to Security at Sea, Transnational Regulation of Terrorism and Counter-Terrorism, and Transnational Regulation of Human Trafficking. An Independent Research Project further enhances academic depth and professional development.
