COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Forensic Accounting and Internal Audit is a three-semester postgraduate programme designed to provide specialised knowledge and practical expertise in fraud examination, forensic accounting, and internal auditing. In the first semester, students build a strong foundation through core modules in financial transactions and fraud schemes, law, internal audit essentials, and accounting and financial statement analysis. These subjects develop an understanding of financial systems, legal frameworks, fraud mechanisms, and the principles of auditing and financial reporting. The second semester focuses on advanced professional competencies through modules in investigation, research methods and data analysis, and fraud prevention and deterrence, equipping students with the skills needed to detect, investigate, and prevent financial crimes and organisational misconduct. Students can further specialise by selecting electives such as business knowledge for internal auditing, the practice of internal audit, or European banking law, allowing them to gain deeper insights into governance, risk management, auditing practices, and financial regulation. The programme concludes in the third semester with a dissertation worth 30 ECTS, where students conduct independent research on a relevant topic in forensic accounting or internal auditing and apply theoretical concepts to real-world problems. Overall, the programme combines rigorous academic study with practical applications, preparing graduates to address complex issues related to fraud, financial crime, risk management, and corporate governance. Through the development of analytical, investigative, research, and ethical decision-making skills, students are equipped for professional roles in forensic accounting, internal auditing, fraud examination, compliance, financial investigation, and risk management across public and private sector organisations.
