COURSE CURRICULUM
The MSc in Educational Psychology is a three-semester postgraduate programme designed to provide advanced knowledge of human development, learning processes, and educational interventions across the lifespan. In the first semester, students develop a strong foundation through modules in cognitive, emotional, and social development, research methods and statistics, school counselling, and an independent research study, enabling them to understand the psychological factors that influence learning and educational outcomes. The second semester focuses on specialised areas including learning theories and their educational implications, language development and literacy, and a continuation of the independent research study, while offering elective options such as school context and gender identities during adolescence and the opportunity to begin a thesis. These modules help students understand how developmental, social, and educational factors shape learning experiences and individual differences among learners. In the third semester, students further expand their expertise through modules in multicultural dimensions of behaviour, personality theories and development, and learning difficulties, alongside elective studies in developmental psychopathology and the completion of the thesis. Throughout the programme, students gain evidence-based knowledge and practical skills related to educational psychology, learning difficulties, developmental disorders, counselling, and multicultural issues affecting education. The strong emphasis on research and independent study enables students to critically evaluate psychological theories and apply them to real educational settings. Overall, the programme prepares educators and professionals to understand and support cognitive, emotional, and social development, identify learning difficulties and developmental challenges, and implement effective educational interventions. By integrating theory, research, and practical applications, the MSc in Educational Psychology equips graduates with the expertise needed to promote inclusive education, support student well-being, and contribute to improved teaching and learning practices in schools and other educational environments.
