COURSE CURRICULUM

The MSc in Accounting and Financial Management is a three-semester postgraduate programme designed to develop advanced expertise in accounting, finance, and strategic decision-making. In the first semester, students build a strong foundation through core modules in accounting and financial statement analysis, research methods, and data analysis, while also selecting electives to broaden their understanding of specialised financial topics. The second semester focuses on deeper financial and managerial applications, including corporate finance and financial management as well as managerial accounting, alongside additional electives that allow students to tailor the degree to areas such as auditing, taxation, governance, risk management, economics of financial markets, banking, portfolio management, fintech, and data analytics. In the final semester, students complete a major dissertation or choose additional elective modules, providing an opportunity to either conduct independent research or further specialise in advanced finance and accounting areas. The programme also includes optional placement opportunities to enhance practical industry experience. A key strength of the course is its alignment with professional accounting qualifications, particularly ACCA, offering exemptions from multiple applied knowledge and applied skills exams depending on the chosen route. This integration of academic study with professional certification pathways ensures that graduates are well-prepared for careers in accounting, auditing, financial management, investment analysis, risk management, and corporate finance.
