COURSE CURRICULUM

The LLM in International and European Business Law is a three-semester, 90 ECTS postgraduate programme designed to provide advanced knowledge of the legal frameworks governing international and European business activities and cross-border transactions. In the first semester, students study core subjects including international trade law, internal market law, and energy law, gaining a strong understanding of the legal principles that regulate international commerce, the European Union's internal market, and the energy sector. Students can also choose electives such as European consumer law and electronic transactions law or European banking law, allowing them to develop specialised expertise in areas of growing importance to modern business and digital commerce. The second semester focuses on advanced legal issues related to private international law and international transactions, international economic law, and European competition law, enabling students to understand complex multijurisdictional transactions, international economic relations, and competition regulations within the European Union. An elective in EU tourism law further broadens the programme by exploring legal aspects of the tourism industry and its regulatory framework. The final semester is dedicated entirely to the completion of a dissertation worth 30 ECTS, where students undertake independent research on a topic related to international or European business law and demonstrate advanced analytical, research, and critical thinking skills. Overall, the programme combines theoretical knowledge with practical applications and develops expertise in international trade, business regulation, competition law, banking, and cross-border legal transactions. It equips graduates with the legal, analytical, and problem-solving skills required for careers in legal practice, multinational corporations, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, international organisations, and consultancy firms, preparing them to manage complex legal challenges in an increasingly globalised and competitive business environment.
