COURSE CURRICULUM

The first year of the LLB in Law at Neapolis University Pafos and University of Reading provides students with a strong foundation in English law and essential legal skills required for academic and professional success. During the first semester, students study three compulsory modules: Contract, which introduces the principles governing legally binding agreements and commercial transactions; Criminal Law, which examines criminal offences, liability, and the operation of the criminal justice system; and English Legal System and Skills, which provides an understanding of the structure of the English legal system while developing legal research, writing, and analytical abilities. In the second semester, students continue their legal education through Public Law 1, focusing on constitutional and administrative law and the relationship between government institutions and citizens, and Tort, which examines civil wrongs, negligence, and legal remedies. Students also choose one optional module between Law and Society, which explores the interaction between law and social issues and the broader impact of legal rules on society, and Research and Writing Skills, which further develops academic research, legal writing, and communication skills. Each module carries 20 UK credits and consists of 37 teaching hours delivered over an eleven-week semester, ensuring an intensive and academically rigorous learning experience. The programme combines theoretical legal knowledge with practical skill development, enabling students to strengthen critical thinking, legal reasoning, problem-solving, and advocacy skills from the beginning of their studies. Following the first year, students progress to more advanced legal subjects during Years 2 and 3, with the final year offering both dissertation and non-dissertation pathways, allowing students to tailor their studies according to their academic interests and career aspirations. Overall, the first-year curriculum establishes the essential legal foundations necessary for further study and prepares students for professional training and careers in law, business, government, and other related sectors both in Cyprus and internationally.
