COURSE CURRICULUM

This English language programme is structured into two progressive semesters (A and B) and is designed to prepare students for the linguistic demands of higher education. In Semester A, students are introduced to the academic environment and expectations of university-level study, while beginning systematic development of core language skills. The modules focus on building foundational abilities in listening and speaking, reading comprehension, writing accuracy, and academic vocabulary acquisition. Students also engage in guided language practice sessions that reinforce grammar, sentence structure, and basic academic communication, helping them gradually adapt to formal study requirements. In Semester B, the programme builds on this foundation by advancing all four language skills to a more complex and independent level. Learners continue to develop listening and speaking fluency for academic discussions, seminars, and presentations, while improving reading skills for understanding longer and more challenging texts. Writing modules emphasise structuring essays, developing arguments, and improving coherence and academic style. Academic vocabulary and language use are further expanded to support subject-specific communication, while practical language application sessions integrate all skills through interactive tasks, discussions, and writing exercises. Across both semesters, the course aims to steadily increase confidence, accuracy, and fluency in English, ensuring students are well-prepared for university coursework. Overall, it provides a structured pathway from basic academic language awareness to effective and independent communication in academic contexts, enabling students to participate fully in lectures, discussions, and assessments in higher education.
