COURSE CURRICULUM

The English Language Foundation Course is structured over two semesters to progressively develop students’ English language proficiency and academic skills. In the first semester, students are introduced to the language expectations of the course and the academic environment, laying the foundation for effective participation in higher education studies. The focus is on developing listening and speaking skills to improve oral communication, enhancing reading skills to comprehend and analyze academic texts, and strengthening writing skills for clear and coherent expression. Students also work on expanding their academic vocabulary and language, which is integrated into practical exercises to reinforce learning and application. Semester two builds on these skills, continuing the emphasis on understanding academic expectations while further advancing listening and speaking abilities, reading comprehension, and writing proficiency. Academic vocabulary and language development remain central, with students engaging in more complex language tasks and applications relevant to higher education. Both semesters prioritize language practice and application, allowing students to actively use English in academic contexts, participate in discussions, and complete exercises that simulate real-life academic scenarios. Through this structured progression, students gain confidence in their communication, improve their critical thinking, and develop the skills required for successful engagement in higher education studies.
