ABOUT UNIVERSITY

European University Cyprus (EUC) is a private, for-profit university situated in Nicosia, Cyprus. It evolved from Cyprus College, which was founded in 1961 by Ioannis Gregoriou as the first business college in Cyprus. This makes it the oldest higher education institution on the island. In 2007, following a legal change permitting the operation of private universities in Cyprus, Cyprus College transitioned into European University Cyprus. The university offers a wide range of internationally recognized undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs that are accredited by the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education (CYQAA). These programs follow the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS), ensuring alignment with European higher education standards.EUC has a selective admissions policy that considers students’ academic history and performance. The institution currently enrolls over 11,000 students, providing them with quality education through various fields of study. It is part of Galileo Global Education, which is Europe’s largest higher education group. This network includes 54 institutions across 13 countries, with more than 170,000 students enrolled globally. Being part of this group enhances EUC’s resources, international reach, and academic collaborations.The university actively collaborates with numerous universities worldwide and participates in the Erasmus+ program. This participation allows students, academics, and staff to travel and study abroad, fostering academic exchange and international experience. In 2012, the university was visited by former US President Bill Clinton, who is an Honorary Chancellor of Laureate International Universities. During his visit, he spoke on the importance of social responsibility, youth leadership, and broadening access to higher education.Overall, European University Cyprus combines a long history of education with a modern and global approach, offering accredited programs and international opportunities to its diverse student body.
