ABOUT UNIVERSITY

The Cyprus University of Technology, commonly referred to as CUT, is a public university located in Limassol, the second largest city in Cyprus. It was officially established in 2004 with the purpose of addressing existing gaps in the country’s higher education system. The university focuses on providing undergraduate and postgraduate programs in academic fields that were not previously covered by other institutions in Cyprus, including the University of Cyprus. CUT welcomed its first group of students during the 2007–2008 academic year, marking the beginning of its academic mission. The university was formally inaugurated in September 2007 by the then-President of Cyprus, Tassos Papadopoulos, signaling its importance as a new contributor to the nation’s educational and research development.In a relatively short time, the Cyprus University of Technology has made notable strides in academic performance and global recognition. It has been included in respected international rankings, which reflect its growing status in the academic world. Specifically, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for the 2018–2019 cycle, CUT was placed among the top 300 to 350 universities worldwide. Additionally, it ranked 102nd in the 2022 QS Emerging Europe and Central Asia (EECA) rankings.
