COURSE CURRICULUM

The English Language Foundation Programme is a one-year preparatory programme designed to strengthen students' English language proficiency and prepare them for academic study in higher education. The curriculum is divided into two semesters, each focusing on the development of the four essential language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. In the first semester, students are introduced to the language expectations of the programme and the academic environment while developing fundamental communication abilities through modules in Listening and Speaking Skills Development I, Reading Skills Enhancement I, Writing Skills Enhancement I, Academic Vocabulary and Language I, and Language Practice and Application I. These subjects help learners build a solid foundation in grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and academic communication. During the second semester, students further enhance their language abilities through advanced modules that continue to develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills while expanding academic vocabulary and improving overall language fluency. The programme emphasises practical language use, encouraging students to communicate confidently in academic, social, and professional contexts. Through continuous practice and application, students develop critical thinking, analytical skills, and effective learning strategies that support independent study and lifelong language development. The curriculum also introduces students to the expectations and demands of higher education, helping them adapt to academic environments and improve their confidence in using English.
