COURSE CURRICULUM

The English Language Foundation Programme follows a two-semester curriculum designed to progressively develop students' English proficiency and academic readiness for higher education. During the first semester, students are introduced to the language expectations of the course and the academic environment while building fundamental skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Modules in Academic Vocabulary and Language I and Language Practice and Application I help students strengthen grammar, vocabulary, and practical communication abilities, creating a solid foundation in English language use. In the second semester, students continue to advance their skills through more challenging and academically focused modules. Introduction to the Language Expectations of the Course and Academic Environment II further familiarises learners with university-level study requirements and academic culture. Listening and Speaking Skills Development II enhances students' ability to participate confidently in discussions, presentations, and everyday communication, while Reading Skills Enhancement II develops the ability to understand and analyse more complex texts and academic materials. Writing Skills Enhancement II focuses on producing well-structured and coherent written work using appropriate grammar and academic conventions. Academic Vocabulary and Language II expands students' command of subject-specific and advanced vocabulary, enabling more effective communication in academic and professional settings. Finally, Language Practice and Application II provides additional opportunities to apply language knowledge in practical contexts, improving fluency, confidence, and independent learning skills. The programme's carefully structured modules ensure that students steadily improve their language competence, critical thinking abilities, and communication skills, preparing them to meet the linguistic and academic demands of higher education studies in Cyprus and to succeed in future academic and professional environments where English is the primary language of communication.
