Course Curriculum

The Computer Science with Artificial Intelligence BSc (Hons) degree at Brighton equips students with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in the rapidly evolving AI and computing industries. In the first year, students gain a broad foundation in computer science, covering programming, web development, databases, computing technologies, cyber security, perspectives on computing, and an introduction to artificial intelligence. These studies are complemented by professional skills that prepare students for working in the computing industry. In the second year, students build on this foundation by studying intelligent systems, object-oriented software development, algorithms, operating systems, and software architecture, while also applying their skills in group projects that mirror real-world challenges. Optional modules such as embedded systems and mobile application development allow further specialisation. The final year consolidates learning through a major computing project and advanced AI modules, including data mining and advanced artificial intelligence. Students can tailor their studies with additional options in areas such as object-oriented design, cyber security, programming languages, virtual computing environments, and usability evaluation. Throughout the course, students gain practical experience, develop analytical and problem-solving skills, and explore ethical and legal considerations in AI. Graduates are well-prepared for careers in AI development, software engineering, data analysis, and related technology fields, with strong industry connections and applied experience.
