This Master’s programme offers a comprehensive and in-depth curriculum in computer and network security, equipping students with the knowledge and practical skills required to address evolving cybersecurity challenges. The Computer Security module introduces fundamental concepts in computer security and ethical hacking, focusing on identifying system vulnerabilities and enhancing defences against unauthorised access. Digital Forensics 3 prepares students to conduct and critically evaluate computer forensic investigations, with a strong emphasis on analysing forensic tools and developing effective investigation strategies in response to emerging technologies. Information and Network Security Management explores the wide range of threats to information systems and corresponding countermeasures, giving students a solid understanding of modern network architectures and the associated security implications. Ethical Hacking 4 provides advanced knowledge and hands-on experience in hacking techniques and their countermeasures, enabling students to think like hackers in order to defend against them effectively. Engineering Resilient Systems Masters adopts both social and technical approaches to improve the security resilience of systems. Topics include hardware security challenges, machine learning applications in cybersecurity, secure software development principles, and both static and dynamic analysis. Research Methods (1) introduces essential research skills, combining theoretical understanding with practical applications of both qualitative and quantitative techniques. This foundation supports students in their final component, the Masters Project, where they independently select a research topic, design and execute an investigation, analyse findings, and present a formal dissertation. The project is an opportunity to apply academic learning to a real-world problem, demonstrating both technical proficiency and research capability. Overall, the programme provides a well-rounded education in cybersecurity, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and research, positioning graduates for a wide range of career opportunities in an increasingly critical and fast-growing industry.
