Course Curriculum

The UTS Flexible Bachelor of Science empowers students to design a personalised degree tailored to their interests and career goals, offering two broad streams: Life and Environmental Sciences, and Maths and Physical Sciences. The Life and Environmental Science stream allows students to explore a wide array of subjects across the life sciences domain, either gaining broad knowledge or developing deep expertise in a particular area. Similarly, the Maths and Physical Science stream provides flexibility to study topics across mathematics and physical sciences, supporting students who wish to build a specialised skill set or fulfil specific prerequisite knowledge for future careers. This flexibility makes the program suitable for students who are undecided about their scientific focus as well as those aiming for targeted professional outcomes.Students begin their studies with the foundational Scientist’s Tool Kit, acquiring essential knowledge in areas such as chemistry, physics, anatomy, or biology depending on their chosen stream. In the second year, students begin designing their own major, selecting 8 to 12 subjects in their preferred area, and may complement these with a sub-major to develop additional expertise, such as chemistry, engineering, or mathematics for the Maths and Physical Science stream. The final year consolidates learning through completion of major and sub-major units, while students enhance their education through three electives and one transdisciplinary elective, enabling engagement with perspectives from other disciplines such as business, law, or the arts.Throughout the program, UTS provides access to world-class facilities, industry partnerships, internship opportunities, and guidance from leading academics, ensuring a practical, hands-on learning experience. Graduates emerge with strong scientific knowledge, technical skills, and professional competencies, ready to pursue careers across research, industry, environmental management, healthcare, technology, or further postgraduate study.
