Course Curriculum

The Diploma of Health Care at Griffith College is delivered over two trimesters and is designed to prepare students for entry into the Bachelor of Nursing at Griffith University. The program blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on experience to build a strong foundation in essential nursing and health care concepts.In the first trimester, students take four core courses: Academic and Professional Skills Development for Science and Technology, Foundations of Professional Health Care Practice, Human Anatomy and Physiology 1, and Communicating Effectively. These subjects introduce students to the basics of professional practice, human biological systems, and effective communication within health care environments. For students with an IELTS score below 6.0 or equivalent, free Language Development Modules are also required to help improve academic English and communication skills.During the second trimester, students continue with more advanced and applied learning. They complete Psychosocial Development Across the Lifespan, which explores human growth and development from birth to old age. They also study Safe Administration of Medications, which introduces core pharmacology principles and medication safety practices essential in nursing. Human Anatomy and Physiology 2 builds upon the first course to cover more complex bodily systems, while Health Assessment teaches students how to conduct physical, mental, and emotional assessments of patients.This sample structure supports the development of critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical clinical skills. It ensures students are well-equipped for future nursing studies and clinical placements. Upon successful completion of the diploma, students are eligible to articulate into the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing at Griffith University. The diploma provides a clear, supportive pathway for students pursuing a career in nursing and offers a combination of academic preparation and real-world application through simulated and interactive learning experiences.
