COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Business Administration (International Business) at Flinders University is structured around 16 topics designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in business administration while specialising in international business. Four of these topics focus exclusively on international business, equipping students with advanced knowledge and skills to operate effectively in global markets. The broader curriculum covers essential business disciplines including marketing, economics, finance, ethics, sustainability, and law, ensuring graduates have a well-rounded understanding of organisational operations and governance. In the second year, students deepen their international business expertise through specialised topics such as international business finance and banking, international business in the Asia Pacific region, and international marketing and export management, preparing them to address strategic, financial, and operational challenges in multinational organisations. The program offers flexibility for practical experience, allowing students to choose an industry placement in place of a core topic, providing hands-on exposure to real-world business challenges and professional practice. Students can further extend their industry experience by participating in entrepreneurial programs such as FOMENT, focused on wine, viticulture, and tourism, or the Innovative Manufacturing Accelerator (IMA), which provides insights into advanced manufacturing practices. A major industry project is a key component of the MBA, enabling students to synthesise and apply their learning across all areas of business and international management in a practical, real-world context. Throughout the program, students develop leadership, strategic thinking, and decision-making skills, preparing them to plan, organise, direct, control, and coordinate activities across organisations at senior levels. Graduates emerge ready to assume executive and managerial roles, combining technical expertise in international business with strategic, ethical, and sustainable management practices, capable of driving organisational success and innovation in a dynamic global business environment.
