Course Curriculum

Discover how each program is uniquely designed to inspire learning

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering provides a progressive and carefully structured program that builds knowledge and skills across four years of study, preparing students for careers in one of the most dynamic areas of modern technology. In the first year, students are introduced to core foundations that support their future learning. These include Design, Communication, and Innovation, where creative problem-solving is emphasized, along with Programming to develop computational skills. Physics and Mathematics provide the essential theoretical underpinnings, while Electronics and Professional Skills introduce students to the principles of circuitry and the teamwork, communication, and ethical awareness needed in engineering practice. In the second year, the focus shifts toward more specialized study. Students engage with Electrical Circuits, Embedded Systems Design, and Electronic Devices and Circuits, which deepen their understanding of how systems are designed and implemented in real-world applications. Optional topics allow them to begin tailoring their learning to areas of personal interest or career aspirations, providing flexibility within the degree.By the third year, students advance into more complex and applied areas. Key topics include Control Systems, which deal with feedback and stability in engineered systems, Electromagnetics and Machines, which explore power and energy technologies, and Electrical and Electronic Engineering Design, where theoretical knowledge is applied to practical projects. Robotics is also introduced at this stage, giving students the opportunity to understand and develop automated and intelligent systems. The fourth and final year emphasizes professional readiness, research, and advanced applications. Students complete an Engineering Practicum to gain industry experience and undertake an Honours Thesis in Electrical and Electronic Engineering, allowing them to explore a significant project in depth. Advanced subjects such as Autonomous Systems, Estimation and Control, and Machine Learning and Vision ensure graduates are prepared for cutting-edge developments in the field. This combination of theory, practice, and innovation equips students to thrive in diverse industries ranging from energy and telecommunications to robotics and artificial intelligence.
