The Bachelor of Information Technology (Business Analysis) is structured over three years, guiding students from foundational IT skills to specialised business analysis knowledge and hands-on industry experience. In Year 1, students develop a broad understanding of IT systems and user-focused design. Semester 1 covers Digital Literacy, User Centred Design, Connected Systems, and Data and Information Systems—each worth 15 credit points. These units introduce students to the fundamentals of digital technologies, systems thinking, and effective data management. Semester 2 continues with Professional Identity (Information Technology), which helps students prepare for their professional journey. Students also complete Cybersecurity Fundamentals and Foundations of Programming, with an additional elective to broaden their learning. In Year 2, the course transitions into business analysis-specific content. Semester 1 includes Business Analytics and Decision Support, Business Process Modelling and Tools, and IT Project Management Techniques. These units teach students how to analyse business needs, visualise processes, and manage IT projects efficiently. An elective unit allows for further specialisation or interest-based study. Semester 2 builds on this knowledge with Analysing the Modern Business and Enterprise Development using SAP, both of which equip students to work with enterprise-level technologies and understand how to transform business requirements into functional IT solutions. Another elective further expands the academic scope.Year 3 is focused on practical application and professional development. In Semester 1, students undertake two co-operative placement units through Federation Co-op, totaling 60 days of paid, real-world industry experience. These placements offer invaluable exposure to business analysis roles in professional settings. Semester 2 includes a capstone Project, alongside advanced units in Transforming Enterprises with Digital Technologies, IT Applications for Business, and User Experience. This final year ensures students graduate with hands-on experience, technical expertise, and the professional skills required to meet the demands of today’s IT and business sectors.
