COURSE CURRICULUM

The major structure of this course is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in mathematics, computing, physics, and earth and planetary sciences before progressing into advanced topics in space research, exploration, and industry. Students will explore areas such as planetary geology, geochemistry, astrobiology, remote sensing, Earth observation, space environments, space systems, and space mission design, allowing them to tailor their studies according to their career interests. The course also examines the historical, cultural, sustainability, and ethical dimensions of space exploration, while highlighting key drivers such as economic development and the search for knowledge about life beyond Earth. Through laboratory-based learning, students develop practical skills in computing, data analysis, remote sensing technologies, space systems, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. In the later stages of the course, students gain deeper insights into space missions, including challenges related to space environments, astronaut safety, and resource exploration on the Moon and Mars. The curriculum aligns with global initiatives such as lunar exploration and future planetary missions. Students can further specialise in technical fields including mechatronic engineering, space system design, AI, software development, data science, and geospatial technology through additional majors, minors, or specialisations. Work-integrated learning and research projects provide valuable experience for future careers in the growing space industry.
