COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mining program is structured to provide students with a strong foundation in mineral resources, mining operations, and the technical skills required for successful careers in the mining industry. After completing foundational studies in the first year, students progress to specialized coursework in the second year, beginning with Fundamentals of Mineral Processing and Dynamic Earth. These subjects introduce students to mineral extraction principles, geological processes, and the formation and characteristics of Earth’s resources. In the second semester, students study Mine Economics and Introduction to Mining and Digital Applications, developing an understanding of financial considerations in mining projects, modern mining technologies, automation, and digital tools used in resource operations. In the third year, students advance their knowledge through Mining Methods, focusing on techniques for extracting minerals safely and efficiently from different mining environments. Students also select between Mining and Sustainability or STEM Professional Practice, allowing them to explore sustainable mining approaches or enhance professional skills. The program includes a Mining Project, providing practical experience in applying mining concepts to real-world challenges. Students also choose between Mine Ventilation and STEM Professional Practice, developing expertise in mine safety, environmental control, or professional development. Overall, the course combines technical knowledge, practical learning, and industry-focused skills to prepare graduates for careers in mining engineering, resource management, and sustainable mineral extraction.
