COURSE CURRICULUM

The Marine Science program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of marine ecosystems, biodiversity, ocean processes, and sustainable resource management. After completing foundational studies in the first year, students progress to specialized coursework in the second year, beginning with Marine Biodiversity, which explores the variety, evolution, and conservation of marine organisms. Students also select an additional unit from areas such as Environmental Impact Assessment, Habitat and Landform Mapping, or Quantitative Biology to develop skills in environmental assessment, spatial analysis, or biological data interpretation. In the second semester, students study Marine Ecology, focusing on interactions between marine organisms and their environments, along with options including Ecotoxicology and Environmental Monitoring or Applied Genetics to understand environmental impacts and biological processes. In the third year, students advance their knowledge through Sustainable Aquaculture, learning about responsible marine food production and resource management. Students also choose between Atmospheric and Oceanographic Sciences or STEM Professional Practice to develop scientific understanding or professional skills. The program includes an Environmental Research Project or Environmental Restoration unit, along with Fisheries Science or STEM Professional Practice, providing practical experience in marine research, conservation, and management. Overall, the course equips graduates with scientific knowledge, field skills, and analytical abilities required for careers in marine conservation, fisheries, aquaculture, environmental research, and sustainable ocean management.
