COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Science program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental systems, sustainability, and scientific approaches for managing natural resources and environmental challenges. After completing foundational studies in the first year, students progress to specialized subjects in the second year, beginning with Atmospheric and Oceanographic Sciences and Landscapes, Soils and Surface Environments. These units develop knowledge of climate systems, environmental processes, landforms, soils, and interactions within natural environments. Students also study Environmental Applications of Geographic Information Science and Remote Sensing, gaining skills in spatial analysis, mapping, and modern environmental monitoring technologies. They further explore areas such as Ecotoxicology and Environmental Monitoring or The Science of Climate Change to understand environmental impacts and climate-related challenges. In the third year, students undertake Environmental Impact Assessment and select from advanced options including Soil Systems, Habitat and Landform Mapping, Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology, STEM Professional Practice, and Drone Mapping and Applications. Students complete a research or spatial sciences project, developing practical investigation and problem-solving skills. Additional options include Environmental Restoration, Sustainable Development, Environmental Geoscience, and Earth Observation from Space, allowing students to specialize in areas of interest. Overall, the program equips graduates with scientific knowledge, technical skills, and practical experience required for careers in environmental management, conservation, sustainability, research, and resource planning.
