COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biochemistry program is structured to provide students with a strong understanding of the chemical principles, molecular processes, and biological systems that underpin life sciences. After completing foundational studies in the first year, students progress to specialized coursework in the second year, focusing on key areas of biological chemistry and molecular science. In the first semester, students study Chemistry of Biological Processes, which explores the chemical reactions, molecular interactions, and mechanisms that support essential biological functions. Students also undertake Food Chemistry, developing knowledge of the chemical composition, properties, and transformations of food components relevant to health, nutrition, and biotechnology. In the second semester, students study Applied Genetics, gaining an understanding of genetic principles, molecular inheritance, and modern applications of genetic technologies in biological research. They also complete Medicinal and Natural Product Chemistry, which examines the discovery, structure, and applications of biologically active compounds used in medicine and healthcare. Through these subjects, students develop analytical, laboratory, and research skills while learning how molecular science can be applied to real-world challenges. The program prepares graduates for further study and careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical research, food science, and related scientific industries.
