COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Commerce double degree is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in engineering principles while developing valuable business and commercial skills. In the first year, students complete the Bachelor of Engineering Pre-Major, building essential knowledge in mathematics, science, technology and engineering fundamentals. Students then select an engineering major from a range of disciplines, including Civil and Construction Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, Mining Engineering or Software Systems Engineering. Alongside their engineering studies, students choose a commerce major that develops expertise in areas such as Accounting, Economics, Finance or Management. The combination of engineering and commerce allows students to gain both technical and strategic capabilities, preparing them to manage projects, analyse business decisions and lead innovation within engineering industries. The remaining years of study are tailored according to the chosen engineering and commerce majors, with students completing advanced technical units, professional practice, research projects and industry-focused learning experiences. This flexible double degree equips graduates with multidisciplinary skills for careers in engineering management, consulting, entrepreneurship, project leadership and various technology-driven industries where engineering knowledge and business expertise are highly valued.
