COURSE CURRICULUM

The Metallurgical Engineering program is structured over four years to provide students with comprehensive knowledge of mineral processing, materials transformation, and sustainable metallurgical practices. After completing foundational engineering studies in the first year, students progress to specialized subjects in the second year, including Fluid Mechanics, Principles and Processes in Chemistry, Mass and Energy Balances, Thermodynamics, Introduction to Mining and Digital Applications, and Process Mineralogy. These courses establish essential knowledge in engineering fundamentals, chemical processes, mineral resources, and material behavior. In the third year, students develop advanced metallurgical expertise through Applied Metallurgical Chemistry, Fundamentals of Mineral Processing, Pyrometallurgy, Advanced Mineral Processing, Hydrometallurgy, and Process Instrumentation and Control. These subjects focus on extracting, refining, and transforming minerals and metals using efficient technologies while considering sustainability and process optimization. The program combines theoretical learning with practical engineering applications, enabling students to understand and manage complex metallurgical systems and processing operations. Students gain skills in designing, analyzing, and improving mineral and metal production processes while applying modern instrumentation and control techniques. The course prepares graduates to address industry challenges related to resource efficiency, environmental responsibility, and advanced material production. Overall, Metallurgical Engineering equips students with the technical expertise and problem-solving abilities required for careers in mining, mineral processing, metal production, recycling, and sustainable materials engineering.
