Bachelor of Digital Creative Industries in Game Design and Art

COURSE CURRICULUM

The Game Design and Art major is structured to develop students’ creative, technical and production skills through a combination of digital design, visual development and interactive media practice. In the first year, students begin with Introduction to 3D Modelling, establishing foundational skills in three-dimensional design, digital asset creation and modelling techniques. Fine Art Studio Methods introduces students to creative processes, visual experimentation and artistic approaches that support digital game development, while elective units allow students to explore complementary areas of interest. In the second year, students build specialised game production skills through 3D Game and Level Design, where they learn to create engaging game environments, gameplay spaces and interactive experiences. User Interface and Experience Design develops understanding of player interaction, interface design and user-centred approaches. Students further enhance their abilities through 3D Character Studio, 3D Environment and Prop Design, and Advanced Animation Studio, focusing on character development, world building, asset creation and animation techniques. In the third year, students refine their professional practice through Level Design Cinematics, exploring storytelling, visual presentation and cinematic techniques within game environments. 3D Digital Sculpting further develops advanced modelling skills for creating detailed digital characters and assets. Through practical projects and industry-focused learning, graduates are prepared for careers in game design, game art, 3D modelling, animation and interactive media industries.
