COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial Design major is structured to progressively build students’ creative, technical and problem-solving abilities through a combination of design practice, digital technologies and industry-focused projects. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation with 3D Design Practice, where they develop core design principles, sketching, model making and creative thinking skills while learning to transform ideas into tangible concepts. During the second year, the curriculum expands into specialised areas with Design Technology and User Experience, focusing on human-centred design and user research, 3D Modelling and Digital Fabrication, which develops advanced computer-aided design and digital manufacturing skills, Design Innovation and Smart Technology, exploring connected products, emerging technologies and innovation, and Design Fabrication, where students gain practical experience producing prototypes using contemporary fabrication methods. In the third year, students refine their expertise through Advanced 3D Modelling and Digital Fabrication, mastering sophisticated modelling, prototyping and manufacturing processes, Design Innovation Futures, which examines future trends, sustainable design and emerging industry challenges, and 3D Digital Production, emphasising professional product development, visualisation and production workflows. Throughout the program, students engage in hands-on studio learning, collaborative design projects and practical experimentation, preparing them for careers in industrial design, smart product development, user experience design, product innovation and advanced manufacturing industries.
