COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Creative Arts with a Theatre Arts major provides students with comprehensive training in performance, creative collaboration, and contemporary theatre practice. In the first year, students develop a strong creative foundation through core units such as Introduction to Creative Arts, Creative Arts Practice, Sustainability Communication and Action, and Culture to Cultures, which encourage artistic exploration, communication, and cultural understanding. Students can expand their practical experience by choosing option units in acting, devising, fine art studio methods, studio materials, cinematic storytelling, or screen practice, while electives allow them to broaden their creative and professional skills. In the second year, students complete the Creative Arts Project and specialise in the Theatre Arts major, focusing on acting, performance techniques, theatre production, collaborative creation, directing, and contemporary performance practices. Additional options such as Collaborative Theatre Practice, Studio Production, or Fine Art Studio Processes provide opportunities to strengthen interdisciplinary skills and creative expression. Elective units enable students to tailor their learning according to individual interests and career goals. In the final year, students undertake the Creative Arts Advanced Project, producing an original performance or theatre-based work that demonstrates their artistic development, technical ability, and professional readiness. Graduates are well prepared for careers as performers, directors, theatre makers, arts educators, producers, and creative practitioners across the performing arts and entertainment industries.
