COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Computing with a Software Engineering major provides students with the knowledge and practical skills needed to design, develop, test, and manage reliable software systems. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in computing through studies in programming, software engineering, data security, algorithms, computer systems, and mathematical concepts. Units such as Introduction to Software Engineering introduce the principles of professional software development, while Programming Design and Implementation and Data Structures and Algorithms develop essential skills in creating efficient and effective solutions. Students also gain an understanding of data security through fundamental concepts and explore computer systems through Unix and C Programming. Mathematical studies in linear algebra and statistics strengthen analytical and problem-solving abilities required for software engineering applications. Elective options allow students to broaden their knowledge in areas such as requirements engineering, computer science foundations, and cybersecurity concepts. In the second year, students specialise in the Software Engineering major, focusing on advanced software development practices, system design, software architecture, testing methodologies, project management, and engineering approaches to technology solutions.
