COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce major in Economics is structured to provide students with a progressive understanding of economic theories, analytical techniques, and their practical applications in business and society. The course begins in the first year with Introductory Economics, where students develop a foundation in key economic concepts, market systems, and the factors influencing economic decision-making. In the second year, students build advanced knowledge through units such as Microeconomic Principles, which examines individual and business decision-making, and Macroeconomic Principles, which explores broader economic factors including growth, inflation, and government policy. Students also develop quantitative and analytical skills through Quantitative Techniques for Business and further expand their expertise by selecting from alternative core units such as Econometric Principles, Applied Economics, or Behavioural Economics and Finance. In the third year, students deepen their understanding through advanced studies in Macroeconomic Theory and Microeconomic Theory, focusing on complex economic models and theoretical frameworks. They further enhance their skills by choosing an advanced elective such as Economic Modelling or Advanced Applied Economics, allowing them to apply economic methods to real-world issues. Through this structured curriculum, students develop strong analytical, research, and problem-solving abilities, preparing them for careers in economics, finance, government, consulting, policy development, business analysis, and research.
