COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Applied Geology, Bachelor of Commerce (Finance) double degree integrates geological science with financial and business expertise to prepare students for careers in the resources sector. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in geology, finance, accounting, business law, mathematics, communication, and career development, while building an understanding of Earth systems and commercial environments. The second year combines advanced studies in finance, economics, business analytics, geophysical exploration methods, mineralogy, geochemistry, petrology, sedimentology, and stratigraphy. In the third year, students strengthen their technical and professional skills through field geology techniques, structural geology, geological mapping, financial markets, corporate finance, economic principles, and quantitative business analysis. The fourth year allows students to specialise further through advanced finance subjects such as international finance, portfolio management, and derivative securities, while exploring advanced geology topics including ore deposits, hydrogeology, basin dynamics, mineral exploration, environmental geoscience, and tectonics. Students also have opportunities to gain practical industry experience through internships, business projects, study tours, and innovation-focused units.
