COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) in Financial Mathematics is designed to develop advanced mathematical, statistical, and financial skills required to solve complex problems in modern financial environments. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in probability, data analysis, mathematics, programming, finance principles, economics, regression methods, and linear algebra. The second year expands students’ knowledge through advanced mathematics and finance topics, including calculus, interest theory, financial engineering, and research, leadership, and entrepreneurship development. In the third year, students apply quantitative techniques through studies in financial engineering, statistical analytics, corporate finance, and specialised finance areas such as international finance or derivative securities. The fourth year allows students to specialise through advanced subjects including portfolio management, optimisation, functional analysis, applied statistics, and advanced statistical topics, while completing either a major honours dissertation or an advanced science capstone project. Throughout the course, students develop expertise in mathematical modelling, statistical analysis, financial risk assessment, and quantitative decision-making.
