COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) in Environmental Science is designed to provide students with advanced knowledge of environmental systems, sustainability, climate science, and natural resource management. In the first year, students develop a strong foundation in Earth sciences, environmental challenges, land and water resources, mathematics, chemistry, programming, statistics, and geographic information systems. The second year focuses on understanding environmental processes through studies in atmospheric and oceanographic sciences, landscapes, soils, surface environments, remote sensing, environmental monitoring, and climate change, alongside research, leadership, and entrepreneurship development. In the third year, students expand their expertise through environmental impact assessment, habitat and landform mapping, hydrogeology, drone mapping, environmental restoration, sustainable development, environmental geoscience, and Earth observation technologies. The final year includes advanced environmental statistics and a major research dissertation or advanced science capstone project, allowing students to apply their knowledge to complex environmental challenges. Throughout the course, students gain practical experience in field studies, data analysis, environmental assessment, and sustainability practices. The program prepares graduates for careers in environmental management, climate research, conservation, sustainability consulting, resource management, and scientific research by developing the technical expertise, analytical abilities, and leadership skills required to create effective solutions for global environmental issues.
